The Campfire.wiki is alive and growing. This is a project to allow for the sorting and summarizing of good information, which allows for people to better research the truths necessary to make good decisions. Sadly, none of the major portals of the internet serve that simple mission.
The State of the Campfire.Wiki
The first days of entering information into the Campfire.wiki involved a lot of link dumpage. I think that many of us were just getting simple notes off our thousands of pages of documents that were hard to keep fully organized while creating article stubs. Some of those article stubs were haphazard, but could be reorganized later. A lot of reorganization has taken place, including the use of namespaces:
Those namespaces serve to allow for hierarchical ordering of topics. This also allows for easier inclusion of unique articles such as Orwellian_science, which might be one of the most important new articles in the wiki—and one that is certain to grow quickly. We prefer this to having articles that grow to the sizes of small books.
No, we do not feel organization of all these topics has reached anything like a final form. We are still consolidating some articles from early in the process, and finding better ways to organize. For instance, I suspect that the "COVID-19_policy_dissent" namespace will be folded into "COVID-19_pandemic/politics" at some point. It's all a matter of time.
We are having discussion over formal standards for citation. The citations are growing more useful and complete, on average, but many still need completion/correction, and there is currently not an exact formal standard. We are prioritizing growth and practicality above formality for the moment simply because formality is a barrier to entry that can be corrected over time.
Some Simple Stats
We can see Campfire.wiki usage growing. Here is the usage chart for December 2021:
And this is for January 2022
The month-over-month comparison for minimal usage is about 4.5x
The month-over-month comparison for average usage is 1.85x
The day-vs-day comparison is somewhere in the middle, on average.
That looks like good growth, and that is a tribute to the work of everyone participating in the vast task of gathering and organizing information at Campfire.wiki.
Repeat visitors are also growing in proportion of Campfire.wiki usage, which suggests that those outside of Operation Uplift using the wiki repeatedly is growing. That's a good sign.

Those who would like to join in the process of building the Campfire.wiki can email OperationUpliftTeam@gmail.com and join our growing team. It is a time commitment, but one that pays by scaling the time that we are all spending collecting and documenting. In the end, it will serve as a vast time saver. It will also serve to help those struggling in the many battles of our era to research or recognize the bigger picture more easily.
I'm very proud of the Wiki and am inspired every day by the crazy intelligent people I get to watch discuss complex issues that go way over my head. In the meantime, I am very thankful for the outlet to compile information and start to see the bigger interconnected picture. The Wiki infrastructure is perfect for it, and I love it gets a bit cleaner and more refined every day.
